Death Notice
Syed I. Hyder (1945 - 2002)

Syed Hyder of Richmond, Va. departed this world on May 30, 2002, of cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Farhat; son, Aamir; daughter, Naureen; and mother, Hameda. Mr. Hyder was born on July 14, 1945 in India. He graduated from St. Xavier College in Calcutta in 1966. Years and years ago, he left behind his strife torn homeland to begin life all over again. His boundless spirit and an almost mischievous sense of adventure would take him on tedious course to corridors of the American legal system. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree in 1978. All through this he plodded relentlessly with his ever twinkling smile, never losing his lethal sense of humor that so many of us will always remember. He chose Richmond as his home, where with his equally vibrant wife he brought up his two children and set up a robust law practice. In the process he became an integral part of this community. Over the next 20 years he touched the lives of thousands of immigrants who came to this land searching for the "American Dream." With each one of them he relived his own dream. His is a story of endless toil, undiluted vigor and yet an amazing grace that will inspire generations. His life is a celebration of pure courage and true grit and so was the way he left us: Defiant to the last minute. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. DIGNITY MEMORIAL WWW.WOODYFUNERALHOME.COM
