First day of Dhul Hijja 1426 AH

Member of Hilal committee at ISGR did not see the moon on Saturday Decemer 31, 2005 Magrib (sunset) time in Richmond area. Moon was sighted on Sunday evening. Accordingly Dhul Hijja starts from Monday January 2, 2006 and Eid-ul-Adha from Wednesday January 11, 2006.

According to Moonsighting "Crescent Moon was sighted on Friday, Dec 2 from Oman, and Cape Town (South Africa). It was also seen in Virginia, S. Carolina, Arizona, Texas, and California, USA..." therefore Thul Qaadah in North America started from Saturday December 3, 2005.

Very hard but possible to see the moon on the evening of December 31, 2005 in Richmond area but better chance in west coast.

Hence first day of Zul Hijja inshallah may start from Sunday January 1, 2006. Hence Eid-ul-Adha (10th of Zul Hijja) base on moon sighting may start from Tuesday January 10, 2006.

First day of Shawwal 1426 AH, Eid-ul-Fitr in some countries

At about 10:30 PM on the evening of Wednesday November 2, 2005, major national organizations like ICNA announced that "Based on Islamic Shura Council's decision, Shawaal moon has been sighted here in North America. Therefore Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Thursday (11/3), Inshallah.

"On November 2, the moon would be about 24 hours old on West Coast of USA and still not visible even by telescopes, because the moon will be in Southern Hemisphere..."


Therefore *according to sighting of moon* first day of Eid-ul-Fitr 1426 AH may start from Friday November 4, 2005.

As many countries in Middle East started their Ramadan a day earlier than official North American date, possibly the official day of Eid in some countries may be Thursday November 3, 2005.

According to Moonsighting "Reports for Rajab Moon cannot be posted on time, because Khalid Shaukat is on travel overseas and the no one else is available to update the web site. Please be patient...",

Later according to Moonsighting "Rajab Moon was seen in California on August 5. It was seen in Australia on August 6...

Dr. Youssef Ismail (Moonsighting.com member) from Palo Alto, CA reported: Seen On August 5, I saw the moon from a location just west of Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. It was an incredibly thin crescent that I could not see with the naked eye, but only with the aid of 10x50 power binoculars."

There have been moon sightings by Non Muslims sources in many parts of USA.
